Headteacher's Welcome

Welcome to Rockland St Mary Pre-School, a warm, nurturing and vibrant early years setting located within our beautiful village school community, just six miles south of Norwich, close to the River Yare and the Norfolk Broads National Park. We are passionate about providing rich and meaningful learning experiences that inspire curiosity, creativity and a lifelong love of learning from the very earliest years.

At Rockland St Mary Pre-School, we embrace a child-centred approach to learning through exploration, discovery and play. Inspired by the Curiosity Approach, our environment is filled with real-life objects, natural materials and open-ended resources that encourage imagination, investigation and independent thinking. Whether children are mixing in the mud kitchen, exploring outdoors, building with loose parts or engaging in sensory play, every experience is carefully designed to nurture confidence, communication and curiosity.

Our children benefit from learning alongside our Reception cohort within Butterflies Class, ensuring a smooth and familiar transition into school life. This shared early years experience helps children become exceptionally ready for school, socially, emotionally and academically. Our older children play a special role within our school family too, showing kindness, care and encouragement to our youngest learners. They love spending time with our Pre-School children and support them every step of the way, helping them feel safe, valued and included.

Our inclusive values of Enjoy, Respect and Achieve underpin everything we do. We are proud to create a caring and inspiring environment where every child is celebrated as an individual and encouraged to flourish.
